Notes for Ralph Roper and Alice

1401 Ralph Roper, his wife Alice, and his son Edmond of St Dunstan were mentioned in the will, dated June 16 1401, of Ralph's uncle, John Roper of St Dunstan outside Canterbury.

1402 June 14 "Licence, for 80l. paid by them in the hanaper, for Ralph Ropere, John Rollyng, and Edmund son of Ralph Ropere, to found a chantry of two chaplains to celebrate divine services at the altar of St. Nicholas in the church of St. Dunstan without Westgate by Canterbury for the souls of John Ropere and his parents, friends and benefactors." [1]

1421 Edmund Ropere and John Rollyng are listed as the patrons of the chantry at the altar of St. Nicholas in the church of St. Dunstan without Westgate, Canterbury, for the "souls of John Ropere and his friends and benefactors and all faithful departed" on the occasion of the institution of a new chaplain on 6 July 1421. The omission of Ralph Roper in the list of patrons suggests that he had died by that date. [2]

1424 On 9 June, Edmund Roper and John Rolling were named as a patrons of the above-named chantry. [3]

1429 On 21 December, Edmund Roper and John Rollyng were named as a patrons of the above-named chantry. [4]

1433 On May 21, Edmund Roper and John Rollynge were named as a patrons of the above-named chantry. [5]
