Busharossa

By June of 1941, Hitler had failed to conquer Britain, was still fighting battles in Africa and elsewhere on the periphery of his conquered territories, and faced resistance movements (which he probably called terrorists) in various countries. Nevertheless, it is likely that he could have established domination over much of Europe for decades (as the Soviet Union did a few years later). But, intoxicated by war and hatred, he took on a bear too big to handle. Operation Barbarossa, the invasion of the Soviet Union launched June 22, 1941. Initially an apparent "success "(Mission Accomplished), with huge chunks of Soviet territory grabbed and millions of Soviet soldiers and citizens dead, the task was too huge and the Soviets too determined. Eventually the tide turned, and didn't stop until the Red Army entered Berlin in 1945.

W's plans to attack Iran, which Seymour Hersh reports are very much active and include using nuclear bombs, may well become the modern Barbarossa. While Iran is smaller and perhaps less able to repel attacks or an invasion than the USSR was, it is in a better position to inflict immediate massive economic harm on this country by blocking the Straits of Hormuz. A US attack on Iran, especially a nuclear one, would also likely solidify world opposition to the US, and not just from a few terrorists in caves.

Every day, new evidence appears that proves that the pResident of the United States is a criminal--crimes high and low. And every day he remains unimpeached is another day closer to World War III.
