Brian is a fourth-year Ph.D student in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. In 2011 he began working with Professor Jessy Grizzle on control design for bipedal robot locomotion. His research aims to develop algorithms enabling stable, agile, and efficient walking and maneuvering in a 3D environment.

Brian came to Michigan from Utah, where he attended Brigham Young University. During his undergraduate studies, he spent two years as a missionary in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He also spent a summer in the heart of the Amazon in Manaus, Brazil, teaching a career building workshop. After graduation, he worked for one year as a digital logic designer at L-3 Communications in Salt Lake City, Utah. Brian is married and has two little boys, with whom he loves to explore the woods and discover the beauties of the Earth.
