I've dusted off this page but I had to find an excuse to post an update
besides the impending doom of M3 year (more or less)... so
congratulations to the M3 Michigan Blue Heart winners,

Casey Tinianow, who "enhanced the
community and learning environment within the medical school, showed
commitment to helping the community at large, demonstrated exceptional
humanistic care of patients, and motivated and inspired others to reach
their fullest potential."
- 7/2/2002 - Well, it starts, for better or
for worse... hopefully everyone will have a good first day on the wards.

online. Check it out to see what you need to know for your
particular clerkship (and all the others, for that matter). Also

- 4/1/2002 - Happy April Fool's Day - I know
many of us saw the unpleasantness that was the M1 Newsletter and I know
that much has been said about the M1's this year, but I'm sure this
isn't a reflection of the whole class and I'm even more sure that for
the perpetrators of this "prank", the last laugh will certainly be on
them. Scared yet?
- 3/27/2002 - Besides reporting on the
madness that was the Neuroscience final, I thought I'd re-post that
link
I sent out earlier this week about a test that tries to get a feel for
who you are, what kinds of things you want in a medical career, and
tries to suggest specialties that would be a good fit.
Enjoy.

"O Canada, we
stand on guard for thee..." - How sweet it is... 50 years to the day
since Canada last won Olympic gold in men's hockey, a team of NHL stars
who got off to a rocky start managed to thoroughly trounce the U.S.
team to the tune of 5-2 today for the gold. Sure, Lemieux missed
an open netter, and sure, The Great One's tirade against the American
media earlier that week made me grimace, but thanks to whatever is in
the Canadian air that produces great hockey players and also to the
loonie buried beneath center ice, Canada can finally reclaim ownership
of its true cultural export, not counting Celine Dion, Alanis Morissette,
Molson, Labatt, and Terence and Philip. To make the point even
more clear, the Canadian women edged out the U.S. women earlier this
week 3-2 for the gold. There might not be much in this world that
is genuinely Canadian, but dammit, at least give us our hockey :)
- If you haven't figured it out by now, I am a Canuck...

Only a few more months of what we have known as "school" for our entire

off to the wards, baby! In anticipation of that frightful day,
take a look at
The Art of Pimping.

missed Thursday's lunchtime presentation from Kalindi that you must
e-mail her indicating that you wish to participate in the M2/M4

- 10/19/2001 - Can it be? The
drop/bonus gods have listened to our pleas for once and yes, an EXTRA
drop/bonus was issued for our Heme/Onc exam. The question was
definitely questionable, and props go out to those brave, persistent
souls who fought for justice (you know who you are). Seeing that
the mode on the exam was 93.X% before the drop/bonus, a lot of people
will be studying a bit easier this weekend. Just a friendly
reminder to QUERY, QUERY, QUERY. OK... so people actually read
what I write here and in the interest of not coming off as a being
mean-spirited,
please remember to query nicely :)
