Directions to Swift Run Pond are at the bottom. Also see "Eddy Street habitat." For those who are not familiar with this pond, here are some directions. Go S of Packard or Washtenaw on Platt Rd. About a hundred yards or so before you cross over hiway 94 you will notice a covered bus stop on your right and an adjacent driveway that leads back to a parking lot for a church. You can scope the pond easily from the lot which I would do before climbing the dike. The pond is low and many shorebirds are close to the dike so be careful not to hop onto the dike too quickly. It is likely that this bird will stay around today so please do not spook it - others would like to see it. Lathe ----------------------------------------------------------------- From: "Bruce M. There will be mud flats here, and shorebirds, when the water level is lower. The water is not deep even in the middle of the pond (only a few inches--a Great Egret was standing there), so mud flats will develop in the next couple of weeks, perhaps, if we don't get more rain. To get to Swift Run Pond go south on Platt Rd from Ann Arbor. A short distance before you get to I-94 (200 yards?) you'll see a covered bus stop on your right and an adjacent driveway that leads back to the parking lot for a church. Start by scoping the pond from the parking lot. Approach the pond very carefully on foot. When the water is low, the best mud flats will be just over the little hill separating the pond from the parking lot.
