This bird beat the earliest spring date listed in "The Birds of Washtenaw County" (May 11) by close to 3 weeks! Redbud Nature Area is on the east side of Ann Arbor, and can be reached by taking Washtenaw to Pittsfield (the light near Arborland); take Pittsfield south to Parkwood, turn right and follow Parkwood to the intersection with Jeanne St. The grassy area on the west side of the street is the entrance to Redbud, and it is where the sparrow was. Good birding, Jacco ----------------- Redbud Nature Area is small; I did a thorough survey of the place in about 40 minutes yesterday, but 25 minutes could easily do the trick. Basically it consists of a stretch of brush and shrubs along Mallett's Creek, with a small section of moist woodland. There are three access spots: - the main entrance is off Parkwood at Jeanne St - the north entrance is behind the Filippis-Wright building on Washtenaw (cryptic and hard to find) - the south entrance is from the north end of Scheffler Park which is at the NE corner of Platt & Edgewood.
