Bed & Breakfast Accommodations Do you need a place to stay while birding at Pt. Pelee? I can highly recommend Ern and Anita Driedger's B & B in Leamington. They are very nice people and the accommodations and food are wonderful. They have one room with a queen-sized bed (very comfortable) and one room with twin beds (probably equally as good). Their address and phone number are below. Call them directly (not the B & B association) to get information or reservations. Ern & Anita's B & B Ernest & Anita Driedger R.R. #4, 1023 Oak St. E. (Road 2) Leamington, Ontario N8H 3V7 CANADA 519-326-4254 Oak Street is the east-west street that is just north of the Heinz plant. Take Highway 3 into Leamington and follow the signs for Pt. Pelee. You'll turn south off the main street. Look for the Heinz plant ahead but turn left (east) when you get to Oak St. 1023 Oak Street is on the edge of town, a mile or two after you turn. The quickest way to Pt. Pelee from the Driedger's is to turn left onto Oak Street from their driveway and then take your first right. This will take you to the road into the park just a fraction of a mile north of the park entrance. Pelee Basically, you can't do it. There is group camping only at Pelee and it is by reservation. You can camp at Wheatley which is not too far past Pelee. Also, there is a camping park outside of Pelee near the entrance to the onion fields; it is called Sturgeon Woods Park. It is mainly a camper park but there is a grassy area where they will let you pitch a tent for a heavy fee, says one birder, who couldn't remember the price but said it's more expensive than most places he camps at. Mike Malone (Pelee Wings Nature Store) passes on this additional information about Wheatley Provincial Park. offers treed campsites with decent buffer zones in mature Carolian forest on the shore of Lake Erie and "Two Creeks"; approximately 15 minutes from Point Pelee National Park, this park is 0.5 miles east of the town of Wheatley off of Klondyke Road Park admin: (519) 825-4659 Reservations: (888) 667-7275 Ontario Provincial Parks website: www.ontarioparks.com/
