The parking lot is to your left (i.e., on the west side of Dixboro Road), almost immediately after the turn. The park is quite large (84 acres) and is actually listed as a natural area. Nice trails through both woods and fields. I've known about its existence for a long time, but this was the first time I've walked there. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Tue, 11 Jun 2002 06:46:18 -0700 (PDT) From: Jacco Gelderloos Subject: Re: Summer Tanager To: birders@umich.edu The Summer Tanager is at Marshall Park, which is located off Dixboro Rd, just north of Plymouth Rd in NE Ann Arbor. The parking lot is directly north of the Dixboro-Plymouth intersection, and the main trail leads out of the back of this parking area. Follow the directions mentioned in Macklin's posting and you should have a good chance of finding the bird. A word of warning: stay on the trails, as there are a number of ground-nesting birds in the area, whose nesting could easily be disturbed or even destroyed by leaving the trails. Enjoy, and good luck! Jacco > All-- > > With the help of Don Chalfant this AM, I located > the Summer Tanager in Mitchell Park.
