KUEBLER LANGFORD PARK, Ann Arbor -- 8:30-10:30am, Sept. 7 24 species total, including five warblers--see list below This is a birdy-looking place. I had been there on two afternoons at 2:00 and 5:00pm and, not surprisingly, had not found many birds. I went at 8:30 this morning hoping for better and was not disappointed. It wasn't exactly jumping, but it wasn't bad. It's worth checking out again. I will, and if anyone else birds there, please post a brief report. (Has any other birder *ever* been there? I've never heard it mentioned.) Directions to Kuebler Langford Park follow the list below. I'll include the resident birds here to give you the full flavor of Kuebler Langford Park. Canada Goose Rock Dove Mourning Dove Chimney Swift (1) Downy Woodpecker Northern Flicker Blue Jay American Crow Hermit Thrush (1) American Robin Gray Catbird (2) Cedar Waxwing European Starling Blue-winged Warbler (1) Bay-breasted Warbler (1) Black-and-white Warbler (1) American Redstart (1) Common Yellowthroat (1) Scarlet Tanager (1) Northern Cardinal Rose-breasted Grosbeak (2) Song Sparrow House Finch American Goldfinch Kuebler Langford Park is contiguous to Bird Hills Park. (One of the Bird Hills Park trails ends at the west entrance to Kuebler Langford Park.) There are entrances at the east and west ends of the park. The west entrance is down Beechwood St., which is off Sunset which is off Newport at Wines and Forsyth schools. (You can also take Main St. to Summit west to Spring north to Sunset and go west to Beechwood.) The east entrance is on Huron River Drive near where M-14 and Huron River Drive meet N. Main. There is no parking at the east entrance except at the nearby Hilltop(?) Hillside(?) girl scout camp. (It's possible that the gate is normally locked; I don't know.) The one block of Beechwood across from the west entrance should be birded as well. I recommend the west entrance. Bruce
