The Aran
Islands lie in the middle of Galway bay and consist of three islands. Inishmaan, Inisheen, and Inishmor. Inishmor
is home to the mysterious and imposing ring fort Dun Aengus. It is situated on the precipice of a 300ft ocean
cliff. The rocks are always slippery and treacherous from the constant rain and ocean spray. No one really knows
who built Dun Aengus. It is thought that perhaps the long disappeared Firbolg people built it after being driven
from the West of Ireland to Scotland and then back to the West again, finally ending up on the Aran Islands where
they scratched out a living on the barren rocky shores.
