Questions to stimulate writing

History has two meanings. Historians work with two types of history:- "history as a past event " and "history as an account or representation of the past." What are the distinctions in these types of history? Historians actively select, analyze and organize evidence and sources using a variety of different methods. What are the types of evidence and sourceshistorians use? How might we check a source for credibility? What are some of the ways that historians use toselect, analyze and organize evidence and information? What makes an event or person significant? How do historian's use time to select and organize? What are the institutional categories historians use? Are all historical representations the same? Do accounts of the same events differ? What explains the differences? Are some representations or accounts "better" than others? Why? Maps are spatial representations that require cartographers to select, analyze organize and create. Does it make any difference what stories of the past people read, retell or learn? Why? Can you give some examples? Can the story we tell our selves about the past shape our future? Is H(ac) part of H(ev)? |
