From Poems with No First Names

the star dims
it admires itself without seeing itself
it is a faded word
it is an unseeing eye

it once was a flower
that beat like a heart
it once was a heart
that flowered like a flower

the night scales off
and gives birth to life
the weeping cock
becomes the cock-a-doodle-do

it hoists the flame
of dream and love
for the cape of silk
for the landscape of day
