I know. This is a boring picture. But it is one of my favorite
spots, and brings back so many good memories of crossing into the Utah deserts.
You weave around the last hills of the Western Slope of Colorado, and the
minute you hit the Utah state line the view expands into a panarama sweeping
for the Monte La Sals on the south to the Book Cliffs to the north. I've
always suspected that whoever slapped a ruler on a map and drew the Utah-Colorado
state line knew that it should slice through this transition between the
mountains and desert, between the Center of the Universe and Heaven on Earth.
