This is the vanity page, not that this whole site isn't an exercise in vanity anyway. Since you're here, though, here's more about me than you probably ever wanted to know.
In December 2003, I will complete my Ph.D. in English language and literature at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I grew up in Baltimore (partly in the neighborhood where they used to film "Homicide, Life on the Street"), went to Baltimore City College High School, where all students learn to say the Pledge of Allegiance in Latin (don't ask), and got my B.A. at the University of Chicago. At present I'm applying for postdoctoral fellowships and teaching as a lecturer at the University of Michigan.
I've been experimenting with web design since my undergraduate days, and am currently helping to maintain the Early Modern Colloquium site. The Lime-Tree Bower is partly a hobby and partly my way of keeping my web skills up to date.
When I'm not immersed in academic life, I spend my spare time cooking and writing. I'm fond of contemporary poetry, Surrealist art, Edward Gorey's illustrations, Alfred Hitchcock's films, nights at the opera (in the cheap seats), knitting, going out for sushi, and traveling to large cities whenever I get the chance.
