Modified Version of Exercise #5, page 314

Figures of Speech Everywhere You Look!

As you read, collect examples of figures discussed in the chapter or in the handout you received. Bring six to class (you may photocopy them, bring in originals, or write down the quotes; just be sure to provide citations--which do not have to be properly formatted). You may use up to two examples that you see on television or hear on the radio, and a total of three may be from advertisements. At least three must be from print texts (hard copy or online) which are not advertisements. Identify the figure(s) being used in each example.

Select two favorites (at least one of which is not an advertisement) and write a few sentences telling us why you like them.

As usual, feel free to email me if you have any questions.
