Dealing with the Opposition

Read the letter from members of the clergy to Martin Luther King, Jr., and then King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail."

How does King deal with his opponents' arguments? List two or three examples each of refutation, concession, and bridging from the "Letter." Then write a paragraph or two in which you comment on the ways King's strategies for dealing with his opposition affect his ethos.

Please be prepared to discuss and submit your typed response at the beginning of class on November 11.
