Figures of Speech "Scholarship" Exercise

You spent some time in class on Monday drafting a letter to a committee comprised of faculty and adminstrators at the University of Michigan. Your purpose? Convince them that you deserve a $50,000 scholarship. You were given the choice of being funny or serious, realistic or not--but your arguments should be reasonable either way.

For homework, revise this letter. Don't add. Instead, revise. Include three to five figures of speech in the revision, and list the figures you've used at the bottom of the page.

You are welcome to handwrite both copies; just make sure they are legible! Also, remember that several of you will be reading your revision in class, so you shouldn't include anything you don't want to share.
