Glacier Point, Yosemite National Park
From Glacier Point, 3,200 feet above Yosemite Valley, a stupendous vista stretches out for many miles north and east, over the forests and meadows around the Merced river, the enclosing cliffs and lofty domes, and across the countless higher mountains in the distant wilderness areas of the National Park.
Half Dome stands at the elevation of 8,842 feet. It is made up from a type of granite, plutonic rock. Chuck Wagon Jamboree!During our last evening at the Lodge, Joni, Mom, and I went to a Western BBQ and Jamboree at Yosemite Trails Pack Station. We were picked up at the Tenaya Lodge by wagon, which was pulled by two Belgian draft horses, and taken down historic Jackson road, to the pack station. We enjoyed a salad buffet and barbequed delights. After dinner we roasted marshmallows, ate s'mores, and sang around the campfire.
Happy TrailsAfter we returned from the Chuck Wagon Jamboree, Joni and I met up with Alan and Susan, who were finishing dinner at the Lodge's outdoor restaurant.
