The Power of the Indian Stray Dog

Look into my weary eyes
Am I not beautiful?

Do not be afraid
Let me rest in your clean lap

Look into my heart
Try not to stare

My life
is not what you are
used to

Let us both accept
that which we are given

I too have
The useless power to break
your heart

The words and images in The Power of the
Indian Stray Dog are by Annette Haines. The title
