Anne G. Berggren teaches writing courses and tutors in the Sweetland Writing Center at the University of Michigan. Born and raised in Staunton, Virginia, she received a B.A. in English with a minor in Russian Studies from Randolph-Macon Woman's College in 1962; a Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) in history from Emory University in 1964; an M.A. in English from Eastern Michigan University in 1992; and a joint Ph.D. in English and Education from the University of Michigan in 1998.
Berggren has taught English in middle school, high school, and college. She has also worked as a newspaper reporter, an editorial assistant, a preschool teacher, and manager of a law office.
She lives in Ann Arbor with her husband, Kurt Berggren, a local attorney.
They have two sons, Chris (b. 1971) and Jamie (b. 1975).
