Multisport:
The passion Within multisport, my discipline of focus is duathlon, which has three legs in a run-bike-run format. I also enjoy competing in running races of all types, from track to road to trails. I began my career in high school, running cross country. After senior year, I shipped off to D-III Kenyon College in Ohio, where I ran varsity cross country for two years. Running injuries during my sophomore season caused me to pick up cycling as my primary sport. I transferred to the University of Michigan in 2002 and joined the Cycling Club. By the end of 2003, I had started running again, and I decided to race triathlons in 2004. In early 2005, I discovered duathlons and decided to specialize in run-bike-run racing. The 2006 racing season was very successful - I placed sixth overall at Short Course Duathlon Nationals and on the podium in most of my other races. This year will be a bit more low-key, as I focus on long-course and cut back on the number of races in which I participate. I will manage to hit many of the high-profile duathlons in the eastern half of the country: LC and SC Nationals, the Mideast Region Championship, and ITU LC Worlds. Other activities:Keeping busy I am currently working part-time as a bookseller at Borders, and I will be coaching middle school track in Ann Arbor beginning on April 23rd. I will be training in Michigan until early June, and then I will spend the summer on the shore of Lake Erie, working at camp for my tenth year! After that, I have no idea where I'll be... but that will work itself out soon. I have a USAT Level 1 coaching certification (pending), and will be looking to grow my coaching business over the next few months. I specialize in coaching duathletes and youth, but will gladly consider other athletes as well. |
