[Note:  I'm defining all members of the bloodline who are mentioned in either series of books as "Elders."  These descriptions assume familiarity with events and personalities described there.]

Elder Amberites

Benedict- He has disappeared into Shadow with his army.  His stated purpose is to create a balance between Amber and the Courts of Chaos.  He says that Amber cannot afford to let the Courts continue as a rival and that the risk of the Courts swallowing Amber requires immediate action.

Bleys- He still stands with Random.  He lost his left hand during the war.  He's known to have an odd sense of humor.

Brand- He's dead.  He's still dead.  Honest.

Caine- He's dead.

Coral- She was assassinated when Merlin was.  Her body was returned to her family as an insult which implied that the marriage between her and Merlin was not valid.  Her relationship to the family is decidedly not public knowledge.

Corwin- He's proved something of a loose cannon.  He invaded the Courts on his own early in the war in an effort to retrieve his grandchildren, Luke, Reuben and Sonia.

Dalt- He disappeared during the destruction of Kashfa.  At this point, he is assumed to be dead in Amber.

Dara- She died in the purges which followed the coup against Merlin.

Deirdre- She's dead.

Delwin- He threw his support behind Amber during the recent war after his sister, Sand, was killed in the purges.  He has sent several of his children to join the House formed by his niece and nephew, Yvonne and Borant.  No one knows how many children he has or what he's been doing out in Shadow for all of these years.

Despil- His current whereabouts are unknown.  He collaborated with the conspirators in the coup against Merlin.  According to rumors, he and Melissa Hendrake, the former regent, were lovers.  He disappeared into Shadow shortly after agents from Amber drove Melissa from the Courts.  Many people, most especially his close relatives, are eager to locate him.

Dworkin- He's quite thoroughly insane.  He has said that he wants to destroy the Logrus and rebuild from scratch and that he instigated much of the war, including Merlin's assassination.  He has struck up a friendship with Stefan's construct, D.A.R.R.E.N.  He and his son, Kaleva, attempted to fundamentally restructure the Primal Pattern.

Eric- He's dead.

Fiona- She died as the result of a poison administered by her sister, Florimel.  She might have saved herself if she'd withdrawn from helping with the war effort.  She finally succumbed about a week after Jurt returned to the Courts.

Florimel- Her current whereabouts are not known.  She had made a secret arrangement with House Jessamy in return for promises of their support in making her Queen Regnant in Amber.  She's married to Erlich Jessamy.  When her treason was exposed, she poisoned Fiona and fled.

Gerard- After Pattern Fall, Random sent Gerard to the Courts as his Ambassador.  Random felt that since Gerard had not been present for the excesses involved in the war his presence might not offend anyone of importance during the tentative peace.  This worked for a while, but Gerard eventually ran off with the heir to House Rugir, Trixie.  He later abandoned her in Shadow.  Random replaced him in the Courts with a member of the Amber aristocracy unrelated to the family.  After Caine's death, Gerard became sole commander of Amber's naval forces, military and merchant.  Gerard is currently courting Dr. Elizabeth Green, the mother of Corwin's son Powell.

Julian- Since Benedict's departure, Julian has taken over Amber's land defenses.  He has with great reluctance begun to accept some of the female newcomers to the family as potentially physically/militarily competent, but he's not happy about it.  Earlier, he refused outright to train any women in anything relating to combat.

Jurt- He is currently acting as Regent in the Courts of Chaos.  Officially either Merlin or Luke could claim power from him should they return within the next hundred years.  In actuality, things are rather more messy.  He's got power and isn't going to give it up easily.  Additionally, the people in the Courts are currently content to have him rule them and will resist further change.  Jurt has married Princess Annabel, Eric's daughter, as part of his treaty with Random and with Amber.

Llewella- Llewella filled dual roles during the war by organizing Amber's supply lines and riding herd on Corwin (once they got him back from Suhuy...).  She divides her time about equally between Amber and Rebma.  She's shown no interest in becoming the next Queen of Rebma but has been favored by certain factions over Martin.

Martin- He is considered Random's Heir Presumptive but has made no effort to consolidate his position and, in fact, has refused to officially be named heir.  For some time, he was considered a likely heir to the throne of Rebma, but his daughter, Sally, is currently favored over him.  He's recently taken up with a beautiful young lady from Shadow.  Her name is Robin.

Merlin- Although his body has not been recovered, he is generallly assumed to be dead.  By all reports, he fell under the blows of his attackers and then vanished.  Since he hasn't turned up again, most people agree that he must not be able to do so.

Oberon- He, too, is dead.

Random- He's the current king of Amber.  He and his wife, Queen Vialle, have not as yet had any children.

Rinaldo- He has not been seen since the destruction of Kashfa and is generally assumed to be dead.  His wife, Queen Nadya, recently gave birth to their first child, and most people assume that only death could have kept him away.

Sand- She died in the purges following Merlin's assassination.  She had apparently lived for decades as Alysande of House Orran in the Courts.  Even her children didn't know who she really was.  Under her influence, House Orran had acted as a staunch supporter of Merlin's regime.
