Forever My Love

I heard the shouts, I heard the cries,
Crucify Him, the King of Lies!
I wondered what was happening, but I couldn't look out,
I was going to die, there was no doubt,

The shouts got louder, the chants more fierce,
My heart beat faster, and I felt fear,

Fear of death, and fear of pain,
Fear of failure, and fear of shame.
Fear of facing the wrong I had done,
Fear of finishing the race I had run.

The door was opened, the guard stepped in,
I heard the chants clearly, they wanted a king.

"What are they saying?" I thought to myself,
I'm no king, that's someone else.
I must have heard wrong, that's got to be it,
They're coming for me, "Get up," the guard spit.

He took me to a room, and gave me new clothes,
Then toward the crowd, from where the sound rose.

"Crucify Him!" and I knew I was done.
"Free Barabus!" What? I was stunned.
I couldn't believe it, they were setting me free,
I was ecstatic, but wondered, why me?

Then I saw, the Man to my right,
He was hurt and bleeding, but His eyes were like light,
My eyes locked on His, and in that moment I knew,
That He would die for me, and die also for you.

The love that He showed me, on that fateful day,
Will live in my heart, for as long as I stay.

For in that second, I saw the plan,
Of heavenly glory, by God's own hand,
To love each other, in a Christ like way,
To be like Jesus, each and every day.

My life changed, in the blink of an eye,
Jesus had given me love, love from the Most High,
And as I felt this warmth from above,
I knew that Jesus would be forever my love.
