Forgiveness

You were born with a destiny,
One that will live on for infinity,
You gave your life so I might live,
You gave us something that you didn’t have to give

With love you set the captives free,
With faith you made the blind eyes see,
And now I ask of You this day,
To give me strength to pray,

My prayer is simple, it isn’t long,
I wish it was better, but it isn’t a song,
I guess I could’ve lived a better life,
I didn’t have as much pain and strife,

But now I ask of You this one thing,
Something that only You can bring,
Some may think riches, fame, or glory,
But it’s not like that, not like the stories,

I just want forgiveness, for all those sins,
The ones that irk and hurt like pins,
God I need to know that I’m forgiven,
I need to know that it’s life that You’ve given,

But what is that God? Is that right?
My sins are forgiven, without a fight?
I did all those things wrong, and now they’re gone,
It can’t be right, it’s gotta be wrong.

How can You do that? I hurt you so much,
I insulted You and lied to You, I did that a bunch,
I can’t believe it, but You say it’s true,
You can forgive me, I’ve been made new.

And now, as I face each passing day,
I’m so happy God, what can I say,
All my sins are washed away,
Thank You God, I think I’ll pray.
