The Great War in Mexico, 1916, in Harry Turtledove Universe.

If the CSA won the "Civil War," the flow of history in North America  would have been quite different.  See below site for how Rob Beattie sees the situation, based on the novels of Harry Turtledove, who met Rob at the 2006 ORIGINS convention.

This site refers to the 1927 Revolution, not the great war, but some info applies.

The Great War situation evolved from a telegram sent by Winston Churchill to Emperor of Mexico asking Mexico to join the Confederate States of America in attacking the USA.  If the French-British-CSA alliance won the war, then Mexico could recover lands taken by USA in previous century.  CSA areas such as Texas would not be included J

The USA responded by invading Mexico, with help from its ally Germany.  The USA also persuaded Mexican insurgents -- Villistas -- to join in hopes of overthrowing the emperor.  The game represented an attack on a sea coast village along the invasion path which was needed as a supply site.

The combatants on the USA side were US sailors and Marines, German sailors, Mexican Insurgents.  The other side had Mexican Regulars, Texas National Guard including an armored car, British sailors and marines. A relief force from the east had a company of Australian Infantry and Japanese sailors.  The game was held at the Battlefields Convention in Dearborn Michigan, 2007.

Rob explains the game to players.  A nice turn out,
