ROYAL MAIL ARMOURED VAN

On eBay I found a very interesting idea – parts to add to a die cast vehicle to make it into an armoured van.  The vehicle must be a Lledo DG13 model.  The original item included the van,  but I have a number of these so asked the seller to just provide the kit parts.  He did.

My plan was to convert a Royal Mail van to an armoured one.  There have been many robberies by Brigands and enemies of the King.  The van should be able to hold off troops armed with small arms and even MG's and radio for help.  In areas of known danger, a lorry of GPO Rifles would accompany the van.  To complete the job, a ER (Edward Rex) version of the logo was purchased from eBay.  The small II is quite obscure, but I might paint it out.  Why is there no number for GR?  See below for all the components.

Here is the finished model.  The red paint is not quite right, but wartime causes variation

Below is model with some 28mm figures.  The GPO Rifles are still on the paint table.  The vehicle is on the smallish side but it seems reasonable that 2-3 men could fit inside with some cargo.
