INTERNATIONAL HORDES OF THE THING TOURMAMENT
THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE ULGY: 2014
In
2012. Terry Webb of Nashville started a local HOTT tournament in which all
players brought armies that were either Good or Evil, pretty or ugly. This was
the first GBnU Tournament. In 2013,
an England event was added and in 2014 the concept has spread. There are 8
sites or "Legs" of the tournament around the world. Legs are in Australia, England, Texas
and the United States, including one in Michigan at the Pro or Con Convention, November
15 at the 2pm slot.
The
Pro or Con Leg will be 25mm but players with 15mm armies are welcome to bring
them and we will provide appropriate temporary bases. The Hordes of the Thing 2.1 rules will
be used. These are essentially the
same as HOTT 2 except that Shooters move 200p and Warband move 300p. Players without armies are welcome to
come and use an army provided by the Game Master.
The
theme for the GBnU Tournament 2014 is Children's Stories. As in all GBnU
Tournaments, you need not field a theme army but you must declare for Good or
Bad. That is to say, each army will
be classed as one of "Good" or one of "Bad" as the owner
prefers. The provided armies are so
classified already. Goods include
King Arthur, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Van Helsing,
Sherlock Holmes, Elves, Dwaves. Bads include Mordred (enemy
of Arthur), Martians, Dracula, Professor Moriarty, Orcs,
Undead. (If
you plan to attend, contact me to reserve an army - beattie@umich.edu)
There
will be local prizes and participants will be eligible for international prizes
too.

period wins it.
Hordes of
the Thing are easy to learn fantasy game rules (7 pages of rules) based on the
world famous DBA rules. There will
be an instructional session at 1pm to teach the rules and give a refresher to
those who have not played in a while.
