The Apple II Documentation Project aims to document the computers of the Apple II line and their peripherals.
The project is hosted at apple2.org.za. Special thanks to Greg Wildman for making this possible.
The Apple II was the first mass produced computer product by Apple. It was introduced in 1977, and sparked the beginning of the personal computer revolution, as it was targeted for the masses rather than hobbists and engineers. It's introduction and popularity also greatly influenced most of the computers that followed it.
The Apple II had high-resolution color graphics modes, sound capabilities and built-in BASIC programming languages. Its open design and expansion slots permitted a wide variety of third-party devices to expand the capabilities of the machine. There were serial controllers, improved display controllers, memory boards, hard disks, networking components, emulator cards, audio synthesizers with text-to-speech functions among others.
The Apple II Documentation Project aims to document the computers of the Apple II line and their peripherals by including manuals, schematics, datasheets, ROM and disk images, photos and sounds of this important period in the history of computing.
