In Spring of 2007, I became the proud 4th owner of "Bopper", a
1981 Toyota Tercel which is still going with its original 1.5 liter 60
hp engine, 331,000 miles, no power steering, no cruise control, no
anti-lock brakes, a max speed of 84 mph on a straightway, and an
average 27 mpg. Bopper was originally purchased brand new in 1980 at
Lee Sheridan in San Mateo, California by the uncle of Owner #1 Stanley
Dellal as a high school graduation gift. It spent most of its life in
California, even being stolen in 1997 and eventually recovered by the
Berkeley Police, before coming to Michigan in 2000 with Shlomo (below
right). With proper care and love, she may have many adventures still
left in her!
