Lea Goldberg (1911-1970)

Lea Goldberg was a Hebrew poet and critic. Born in Eastern Prussia, she later wrote on childhood, nature, love, the quest for esthetic expression, aging and death. Among her outstanding poems are "Mi-Shirei ha Nahal", the Songs of the Stream, and "Bi Harei Yerushalayim", In the Hills of Jerusalem. Lea Goldberg was one of Israel's most successful children's writers with 20 works written. A whole generation of Israel's youth grew up on her stories and poems.
