- ACADIA Second International Design Competition
- I assisted Peter Anders and Kirk Martini in developing a strategy for the
operation of the international design competition. My main duty was to think
of ways to "break" the judging schemes that the committee came up with (i.e.,
tactics competitors might use to cheat or trade favors with other competitors),
and to think of possible "fixes" to prevent such tactics from being used.
- Contributing Editor, 2000 - 2001
- ACADIA Quarterly
- I organized a series of debate articles, which appeared under the title
"Binary Oppositions." In each article, I debated some controversial CAD-related
issue with another ACADIAn. Sample topics included "Should buildings designed
with a computer 'look like' they were designed with a computer," and "Will
computers be able to design as well as human designers in the foreseeable
future?" For each article, I recruited a debate participant, wrote the argument
for one side of each debate, and handled editorial duties for the column,
before forwarding the article to the Quarterly editors (Wassim Jabi
and Shailesh Jain) for integration into the issue.
