I recently received my Ph.D. degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan, finishing a dissertation that drew upon information from Architecture, Design Methods, Cognitive Psychology, and Computer Science. I have professional and graduate degrees in architecture, am skilled at the use of architectural and graphics software, and am a very capable computer programmer. I am looking for a long-term position where I can make use of the skills and expertise I have developed over the last 20 years. I'd like to teach, do tech support, develop architectural or graphics software, create architectural models and graphics, conduct research, and/or develop/manage/maintain architectural software and standards for architectural offices.

After receiving my Ph.D., I was hired by the University of Michigan Taubman College of Architecture + Urban Planning for an academic year, to teach Arch. 411, CAD Fundamentals I. Then I worked as an Application Engineer at AEC CADCON, a Value Added Reseller of Autodesk software.

I would enjoy the chance to continue teaching, and/or conducting research or development in the area Computer-Aided Architectural Design (CAAD) and/or digital fabrication. I have over 20 semesters experience doing this, and have a substantial body of teaching materials already developed.

I would also enjoy the opportunity to put my skills to use helping develop architectural or graphics software. While all of my college degrees are in architecture, I am a competent computer programmer. My Ph.D. dissertation concerned representations for architectural software. I have the equivalent of an Undergraduate Minor in Computer Science; have had additional classes on user interfaces, AI, and 2D and 3D graphics programming; and have years of experience coding in LISP and C++. I am familiar enough with various vector graphics and modeling formats to be able to write code to translate from one format to another, or to generate 2D or 3D data algorithmically.

I am also amply qualified to create architectural graphics and digital or physical models for an architecture, architectural graphics, or architectural modeling office. I am familiar with a broad range of architectural and graphics software, as well as manual techniques for illustration and modeling. I am also well-versed in techniques for digital fabrication of physical model components.
