About Me:
Hi, my name is Wenling (Wendy) Shang, currently an Applied and
Interdisciplinary Mathematics Ph.D Candidate and a Statistics Masters at the
University of Michigan,
Ann Arbor,
MI. My thesis advisors are Professor Anna Gilbert and Professor Honglak Lee.
My research interests are machine learning, functional analysis and its applications and applied probability. I have a broad interest in both math and the scientific world, and I am open to new knowledge at all time.
I was born and grew up in Beijing, China.
My undergraduate institute is Washington and Lee University , Lexington, VA, where I double-majored in Mathematics (with Honor) and Physics Engineering, minored in Computer Science. My honor thesis advisor was Professor Paul Bourdon, Math advisor Professor Greg Dresden, Physics Engineering advisor Professor Kenneth Van Ness, and Computer Science advisor Professor Kenneth Lambert.
I also spent a term at the Budapest Semester in Mathematics program and another term at the University of Oxford Junior Year Abroad program, studying Mathematics, Engineering, and Computer Science. It was a very memoriable time of my life.
