August 2005
Mocking up the toe rail.
Toe rail base blocks in place.
Grab rails on cabin.
Roughed-in hatch lifting mechanism

July was quite a month. Let's see. There was finishing the front porch project. There was the nasty surprise associated with that project. There was a week spent at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.
In an heroic three day effort, the topsides were completely glassed. They've been sanded and the grab rails completed. The toe rail is partially completed. The hatch covers are well along, and I've machined the parts for the main hatch lifters. The interior is also well along.
My driveway and yard are now filled with debris from the various projects waiting on a 10-yard trash container to be delivered.

All of my neighbors should be much happier now that the huge pile of scrap and rubble has vanished from the driveway

Over the weekend we bent the all toe rail caps into place, roughed in the mast partners and their liners, and started to lay out the cockpit seats and supports. One more long construction session, and the hull will be ready to roll out of the shop, clearing the way for the spar building set-up.
Tomorrow, however, is the first session of my Unix Scripts and Tools class, so progress may slow down just a bit. (and the verdmammte ragweed is blooming!)
