COURSES
Senior Design

I have taught two semesters - Winter 2005 & Winter 2006 - of ME 450, the University of Michigan's Capstone Senior Design course. The point of this course is to undertake a corporate, government, or university design project, begining with a paragraph statement and completing with a design and functional prototype. My role was to facilitate basic course logistics and lead five project teams (approx. 25 students total). I also organized a web-based survey approach to assigning team projects. During the Winter semester of 2005, I also organized the Design Expo, a college wide event displaying the results of project-based design courses.

GUEST LECTURES
Analytical Product Design

"Ecodesign". Given in ME 455, Analytical Product Design, October 11th, 2006 & October 11th, 2007.

This lecture is focusd on (1) heuristic guidelines that students can easily use in their course projects and (2) a basic introduction to quantitative environmental analysis of product system designs, particularly Life Cycle Assessment.

AIM Seminar

"Game Theory basics and the Newton-Raphson method for Nonlinear Systems of Equations." Given in MATH 501, Applied Interdiscplinary Mathematics Seminar: Student Session, December 9th, 2005.

NOTES
Game Theory

In these notes I cover some Game Theory basics with an eye towards implementation of discrete-decision games using best response iterations. I also describe how Fictitious Play can be used to solve discrete optimization problems (See Lambert, Epelman, & Smith; Operations Research 53(3):477-489, 2005 for more information on this idea, including a more advanced implementation for computationally intensive problems.).

Mixed Logit

This document is meant to introduce sample averaging as a means to approximating integrals that arise when using Mixed Logit models of choice and develop the associated linear algebra problems.

CBLAS

These simple introductory exercises have been used to introduce some CBLAS (Basic Linear Algebra Subroutines) routines.
