Located at the hinge of the downtown and the riverfront of Grand Haven, Michigan, the Meeting Point provides an atmospherically controlled place for informal public gatherings.  In the summer the building is a cool retreat in which boaters and tourists may meet with friends to have an indoor picnic on a rainy day or spend an evening conversing.  In the winter it serves as a warm public living room for community members to gather in for extended periods of time without having to spend money as they would at a restaurant or bar.  Variance in the qualities of space, light, warmth, and privacy across large rooms creates intimate environments of different ambiances where groups of different sizes may gather.  The Meeting Point provides both indoor and outdoor sheltered areas with clear views of the street at this main hub where people could wait for their rides or to meet family members and friends who had separated when enjoying the downtown and riverfront areas.
