Matthew Morris
Matthew Morris is currently a student at the University of Michigan pursuing a degree in Bassoon Performance. He is a student of Dr. Jeffrey Lyman. While at Michigan, he serves as rotating principal bassoon of the University Symphony Orchestra and the Symphony Band. Before attending the University of Michigan, Matthew graudated summa cum laude from Murray State University in Western Kentucky where he received the Bachelor of Music in Music Education. While at Murray State, he studied bassoon and oboe with Scott Erickson and sat principal bassoon of the Wind Ensemble. He also served as the bassoonist of the faculty woodwind quintet.

Matthew is currently the second bassoonist with the Plymouth Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Canton. He is a former member of the Paducah Symphony Orchestra. He served for two years as the principal bassoon of the Kentucky Music Educators Convention (KMEA) Intercollegiate Band. He was also the winner of the 2004 Bluegrass Division of the MTNA Solo Woodwind competition. In the summer of 2006, Matthew attended the Aspen Music Festival, where he served as co-principal bassoon of the Aspen Sinfonia Orchestra and the Aspen Concert Orchestra.

Matthew has studied with such notable teachers as Nancy Goeres, Sue Heineman, and Per Hannevold. He has participated in masterclasses with bassoonists Charles Ullery, Richard Svoboda, Barrick Stees, and Steve Dibner.
