The first statement on the first piece.

As the oldest and only girl in a male dominated household... feeling out of balance was normal. The search for bonding and companionship within the family unit was a constant need. I can remember being 15 or so  and feeling like I was falling through the rabbit hole trying to maintain my balance, place, and sense of self ..trying to find the balance between being and becoming..

using Alice as the protagonist, my main character in this image... many may empathize  with her... being large one day and small the next...the on going search for normalcy or the redefining of the term normal..

perhaps being normal but just not average...and accepting that...

using the hands to symbolize the classic justice stance brings the word "balance" front and center....and with the black hole on the left.. as well as the movement throughout the whole image.. this image reflects being out of balance....beginning to swirl..

The flag is a symbol of the country and the many american youth that are also seemingly out of balance.. but it is not a main theme in this peice..

my goal is to finally through the creation of  the three images actually find a balance through my vision as well as my partners...that will speak to the viewer as finally finding one's self... through all the changes... finding balance.

and so the quest begins...
