Dark Energy and the Accelerating Universe

The discovery that the expansion of the universe is speeding up has generated waves in the field of cosmology and presented us with a grand mystery: what is the origin and nature of Dark Energy, the stuff that causes the accelerated expansion? In this talk I will overview research, both theoretical and experimental, aimed to help us understand Dark Energy. I will also review another exciting line of research in theoretical cosmology: exploring and understanding the largest observable structures in the universe.
