Gottfried Becker

relationship not proven; according to obituaries, came to Bay City at about the same time as George Becker and went to the same church in Saginaw (Immanuel Lutheran).


Mary Erdman

Saginaw News, Tues Jan 13 1948: "Becker, Mrs. Mary, 1719 Vermont Street. Died 4:40 pm Monday at her home after a 4-day illness. Mary Erdman was born Dec. 6 1867 in Erlenbach, Russia, and married there Jan. 1 1889 to Gottfried Becker. He survives her. They came to Bay City from Russia in 1912, and to Saginaw in 1924. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and first president of its Ladies Aid Society when it was founded. Funeral 1:30 pm Thursday from the residence, 2 pm from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rev. Jacob Eichhorn officiating. Burial in Oakwood cemetery. She may be seen at the Gugel Funeral Home from 6 pm Tuesday until 3pm Wednesday, thereafter at her home."


Gottlieb Bolger

Katherine Mertz

Saginaw News, Dec 14 1948, p25:"Bolger, Mrs. Katherine, 407 South Oakley Street. Passed away at home Tuesday morning. Age 85. Katherine Mertz was born Jan 7 1863 in Reinhart, Russia, and was married there to Gottlieb Bolger in 1884. In 1904 they came to Caro, Mich., and later the same year they moved to Saginaw. Mr. Bolger passed away Feb 9, 1911. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. Surviving are five sons: Henry of Freeland, Mich; John, Gottlieb, Jacob, and Fred of Saginaw; 25 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral at 1:30 pm Friday from her residence, 2 pm from Zion Lutheran Church. Rev. Floyd L. Yokers will officiate. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may see her at her home after Wednesday noon."


Mary E. Eurich

Saginaw News, Sun Oct 30, 1960 (D9):"Demers, Mrs. Marie E., 1540 Division Street. Wife of Hector Demers, passed away Saturday evening at St. Luke's Hospital after a lengthy illness. Age 59 years. Marie E. Eurich was born Jan 15, 1901 in Russia and came to the United States as a child, coming directly to Saginaw. She was married to Hector Demers Sept 27, 1919. He survives her. She had been employed as a cook at Saginaw High School for the past six years and was employed at Saginaw Malleable Iron and the Schuch Hotel previously. Surviving besides her husband are one sone and one daughter, Hector Jr. of Saginaw and Mrs. George Starkey of Flint; six grandchildren, one great grandchild, two brothers and two sisters, Henry Eurich of Merrill, Alex Eurich of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Gottlieb Bolger of Saginaw and Mrs. Henry Fischer of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 3 pm Tuesday in Case Chapel. Rev. Harold Molzan will officiate, with burial in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel after 7 pm today."


Christian Karl Gorde

m. Regina Hartmann in Russia Feb 16 1890; moved to Saginaw 1908. Retired carpenter. Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Gugel funeral home.
Saginaw News, Mon, Jul 15, 1946:"Gorde, Christian Karl, 1545 Division Street. Age 77, died suddenly at 7 am Sunday at his home. Mr. Gorde was born August 24, 1868, in Rhinewalt, Russia. February 16, 1890, he married Regina Hartman in Rhinewalt. They have resided in Saginaw since 1908. By occupation he was a retired carpenter. Mr. Gorde was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Surviving are his wife, Regina, and 5 daughters, Mrs. Christ Gorte of Owosso, Mrs. Fred Zittel of Pontiac, Mrs. John Schneider, Mrs. Julia Behling, Mrs. Otto Hartwig of Saginaw, 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be held 2:30 pm Wednesday from Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Rev Emil Voss will officiate with burial in Holy Cross cemetery. Friends may see Mr. Gorde at Gugel's Funeral Home, 419 No. Michigan, from 6 pm Monday until 6 pm Tuesday after which he will rest at his home, 1545 Division St."


Katherine Eurich

Mom spoke of George Heinrich, but Katherine's parents are only speculated.

Saginaw News, Oct 4 1973:"Heinrich, Mrs. Katherine, Formerly of 140 S. Carolina Street. Passed away 8:10 pm Wednesday Oct 3 1973 at the Maccabee Gardens. Age 86 years. Katherine Eurich was born Nov 6 1886 in Russia coming to the United States in 1906. She was married to George Heinrich Mar 3 1907 in AuGres. He predeceased her April 5 1970. She was a member of St Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are seven daughters and four sons, Mrs. Mildred Hansen, Mrs. Robert (Lola) Houlihan and Bernard Heinrich, all of Saginaw; George Heinrich Jr., Vestaburg; John Heinrich, Detroit; Mrs. Charles (Marie) Sweet, Clare; Mrs. M. W. (Doris) Zellhart, Pontiac; Lewis Heinrich, Gainsboro, Tenn.; Mrs Donald (Ann) Lauckner, Mrs. James (Isabelle) Brandel and Mrs John (Jacklyn) Darrow, all of Seal Beach Calif., 30 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will take place 1:30 pm Saturday at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Court and Bond Streets. Rev. R. A. Gensmer and Rev. D. K. Tomhave will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Gugel-Wakeman Funeral Home, 419 N. Michigan after 7 pm Thursday until 11 am Saturday, and at the church from 12:30 pm Saturday until time of serv.ce Those who so desire, may give memorials to St Paul's Church Building Fund."

We have a photo of him and Sophia Spindler, along with Amelia Spindler, Amelia Eurich, Herman Eurich, and Albert Aab. He was known to Amelia Eurich as simply "Karver".

Saginaw Daily News, Nov 30 1931(12):"KARVER -- Carl Karver, 69, of 511 Lynn Street, was found dead Sunday at the William Roethke Floral company store, 202 South Michigan avenue, where he was employed as night fireman. He was born September 9, 1862, in Russia and was married there to Miss Sophie Webber. In 1895 they came to the United States and settled in Minnesota. Mrs. Karver died there in 1923. In 1925 he came to Saginaw and a short time later was married to Mrs. Sophie Spindler in Flint. After her death he was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Kieling. He was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving are his widow and six children, Henry and Carl Karver, Saginaw, David Karver and Mrs John Thomforde, Crookston, MN, Mrs. Jacob Zittel, Sheboygan, Wis., and Mrs John Bulley, Detroit. The funeral will take place at 1:30 pm Thursday at the home and at 2 pm at St John's Lutheran church. Rev Oscar G. Fry will officiate and burial will be in Oakwood."
