Johann Heinrich Weitz


Saginaw New, Saginaw, MI, October 31, 1951
John Henry Weitz, Sr. died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital following a long illness. He was 71. He was born December 23, 1879 in Russia and married Anna E. Sturtz in 1902. She survives him. They came to Saginaw in 1907. A laborer, he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Besides his wife he leaves four daughters, female, female, Margaret Deal of Flint, Michigan, Anna Buck of Detroit, three sons, Carl and Fred Weitz of Saginaw, and Herman Weitz of Detroit, 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Gugel Funeral Home with Rev. Oscar G. Frey officiating. Entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum.

Fred Deal

The Flint Journal, Sat, Jan 26, 1980 "Mr & Mrs Fred Deal of Walnut Ridge will mark their 64th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter Marie Thomas of Flint. Mr. Deal, who was born in Russia, married Margaret Weitz Jan 22 1916 in Saginaw. She was also born in Russia. He worked for Buick for 34 years, retiring in 1961. They have four other children, William of Davison, John of Swartz Creek, Mrs. Erwin (Elsie) Peterson of Flint, and Rev. Robert C. Deal of Sunnyvale, Calif. There are 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren."

Christian Gorde

Much information has come via Toni Plain (tlplain@avci.net) in her messages in www.familyhistory.com message board from May to August 2000. Her husband's (John Albert Plain) grandfather is Henry Gorde.

From Germans from Russia website, a Sheboygan WI immigrants list gives Christian Gorde a 3/3/1887 birthdate and Henry Gorde a 10/8/1908 birthdate, both from Urbach, Russia.


Marie Elizabeth Eurich

This is the only sister so far that there is real proof of being sibling to Fred (1884-1936), from her death certificate and published obituaries.

Saginaw News Obituary Archive: in 1939 she same to Saginaw from Silverwood; buried in Rich Cemetery in Lapeer County. Church St John Lutheran, funeral home Gugel.
Saginaw News, Aug 6 1945(9):"Mrs. Marie E. Gorde, 70 wife of Christ Gorde of 1803 Marquette, died Sunday at her home, after a lingering illness. Marie E. Eurich was born Sept 8 1874 in Russia and came here six years ago from Silverwood. She was married in 1900, in Russia, to Mr. Gorde. Mrs. Gorde was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliss and Elm. She leaves her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Frank Zeman of Toledo, Mrs. Leonard Miller of Detroit, Mrs. Alex Brinkman and Mrs. Jacob Scharich of Saginaw; three sons, Charles Gorde of Dearborn, David Gorde of Mt Clemens and Henry Gorde of Silverwood; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral will take place at 1:30 pm Thursday at the Gugel funeral home and at 2 at St. John's church. Rev. Oscar G. Frey will officiate, with burial in Rich cemetery, Lapeer county. Mrs. Gorde may be seen at the funeral home after 6 pm Tuesday."

1920 Rich Twp Lapeer Co census has Kristopher Gorte, 54, Marie, 45, both born Samara, general farmer, daughters Katie, 17, b. MI, and Sophia, 15, b. WI, and son Henry, 13, b MI.

In 1990, 2 daughters: Martha Bohl of Flint, Lydia Mayne of Grand Blanc; 5 grandchildren: William Ford, Gregory Ford, Robert Haist, Sally Lockwood, Michael Mayne.

Immigrated to US from Russia in 1916, presumably with brother Jacob Aab.
Seamstress for A.M.Davison, Bush's, Crawford & Zimmerman's Clothing companies.


Martha Bohl

Age 78, of Flint, died September 8, 1998 in Traverse City, MI. Miss Bohl was born on June 20 1920, and resided in Flint until the last few years of her life. In her younger years she lived in Richfield Center and graduated from Davison High School. She was employed at AC Spark Plug as a Secretary for over thirty years. She is preceded in death by: her parents, Walter and Cathryn Bohl. Surviving are: sister, Lydia Mayne; niece, Sally Lockwood; nephews, Michael Mayne, Robert Haist, Gregory Ford, William Ford; cousin, Albert Aab and family; several relatives in Uelzen, Germany; dear friends, Frank and Veronica Moore, Helen Geraghty. Final resting place is Flint Memorial. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Assoc.

MAYNE, Lydia - Age 76, died Saturday, December 16, 2000 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Body will be cremated and ashes scattered from Lookout Mountain. There will be no service held at the Swartz Funeral Home. Mrs. Mayne was born in Flint, Michigan on March 14, 1924, the daughter of Cathryn (Aab) and Walter Bohl. Mrs. Mayne retired from Chevrolet V-8 Engine Plant in 1980, after 26 1/2 years with General Motors. She was a member of the Industrial Business Girl's Club for many years and ... (Flint Journal)
