Amelia Rosie Eurich

birth certificate shows birthplace as Ward 3, Sheboygan
The Flint Journal, December 10, 2000
BARE, Amelia Rosie - Formerly of Grand Blanc, age 88, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2000 at Fenton Extended Care. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 12, 2000 at the Hill Funeral Home, 11723 S. Saginaw St., Grand Blanc, Rev. David Ray officiating. Interment at Crestwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday and Monday. Contributions in her memory may be made to the East Central Michigan Chapter of the Alzheimers Association. Amelia was born in Sheboygan, WI on Mary 30, 1912, the oldest daughter of Frederich and Katherine (Spindler) Eurich and grew up in Frankentrost, MI. She began working for her uncle at Jacob Aab's Grocery in Flint at the age of 15. She married David Bare on November 12, 1944 in Flint, and lived in Grand Blanc since 1948. Mrs. Bare was a member of Halsey United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She had been employed by Hamady Brothers Grocery during the 1960s and 70s. Surviving are: husband, David of Fenton; 2 daughters, Beverly and husband Dr. Adger Butler of Detroit, Dawn and husband Chuck Bonney of Ypsilanti; 2 grandsons, David and Joel, both of Ypsilanti; 4 sisters-in-law; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Her middle name *was* Rosie, not Rose. She joked that it came from the family cow. She was a talented seamstress and needleworker, tatted handkerchiefs for all my elementary school adult contacts (including the bus driver), and was admired as a cook.

Dave and Amelia lived the first two years of their marriage with another young couple who had the last name of Eurich. Both couples had their first babies in the house they shared, daughters born on the same day. They didn't think Amelia and Leon Eurich were related. Leon, b. abt 1922, was the son of Russian-born John and Margaret Eurich of Flint, MI, with brother Karl and sister Evelyn, acc to the 1930 census (dwelling 534, dist 66, Flint, Genesee Co, MI). John may have been the John Eurich who lived in 1920 in Flint with Jacob Aab, Amelia's Russian-born uncle-to-be when he married Anna Spindler.

Amelia Irma Natalia Spindler

Listed as cigar-maker age 16 living with mother & sisters in Saginaw on Bates St in 1920 census.
Aunt Meal lived with sister Ann and her husband Jake Aab in Flint during the 20s and 30s, then moved to Saginaw and worked at Sears for 23 years. Lived at niece Frieda Zednick's house in Saginaw while sick with cancer. Like her sisters, she could work a needle -- we still have an afghan she crocheted.

Mom wrote the pallbearers inside her remembrance card: D Weitz, Albert, Bob & Jack Spindler, Walt Spindler, & Walt Eurich.

AHSGR's publication "Clues" 1984, pt. 1, p 74 has shiplist for Aab family probably related to Jake: S S Wittekind dept Bremen 19 Apr 1906, arr Baltimore 4 May 1906, arr Galveston 14 May 1906: "The last place of residence in Russia as listed for some of the following families was Ust Solicha (Messer) in the Volga region. However, Myron Anderson of Windsor CO, who also brought this ship and date to our attention, states that the Aab family was from Doenhof. It is thought that the other families who give their last place of residence as Ust Solicha were also actually from Doenhof as these are very common names among the people from Doenhof who went to Windsor CO. From Ust Solicha, going to a friend, Philip Altergott, in Greeley, CO (See picture next page.) AAB -- Wilhelm, 28, m; Lisbeth 30, f; Wilhelm 8, m; Lisbeth 6,f; Hienrich 11 mos, m." Young Wilhelm in picture bears resemblance to son of Jacob Aab.
