Andrea Yun, cello
Andrea is an active chamber and orchestral musician. For three
years, she
has been a member of the Dexter Quartet, with whom she enjoys performing
new
and also standard repertoire. She has served as principal of
the Flint
Symphony Orchestra since September, and hopes to continue her orchestral
playing while she is in her new home in San Antonio, Texas. Andrea
recently
received her doctorate from the University of Michigan, where she studied
with Professor Erling Blondal Bengtsson. She completed her master's
in
cello performance with Prof. Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi at Indiana University,
where
she also received her bachelor's in music education and mathematics.
Andrea
enjoys both performing and teaching. With the Dexter, Andrea
has travelled
to Banff, Alberta, and also plans on attending the Musicorda Festival
as
their resident chamber quartet this summer. Andrea has taught
at the
Interlochen Center for the Arts and with the Indiana String Academy.
She has
been a fellowship recipient at the Aspen Music Festival (CO) as well
as the
Pacific Music Festival (Japan), and has also attended the Scotia Music
Festival. In the fall, Andrea will begin teaching at the University
of
Texas - San Antonio.
