Stephen Miahky, A native of Akron, Ohio, Stephen Miahky is currently a senior at
the University of Michigan School of Music. He is pursuing a violin performance degree
under Stephen Shipps. Stephen has won several competitions, including the University
of Michigan Concerto Competition, the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Competition,
and the Louis Lane Competition. Stephen is Co-Associate Concertmaster of the Ann
Arbor Symphony and as served as concertmaster and principal of several ensembles
including the University of Michigan Symphony Orchestra, the Plymouth Symphony, Brave
New Works, the NOI Philharmonic, and the Kent/Blossom Chamber Orchestra. As a chamber
musician, Stephen has performed extensively with the Michigan Chamber Players, Chamber
Music Ann Arbor, and Strings in the Mountains as a Young-Artist-in-Residence. He
has performed with such leading musicians as Nick Eanet, Martin Beaver, Yehonatan
Berick, Andrew Jennings, Paul Kantor, Owen Carman, Steven Doane, Yizhak Schotten,
Chris Brown, and the Arianna String Quartet. His former teachers include Alan Bodman
and David Russell.
