Everyone,

I just want to say again that I am incredibly proud to take you all to LA

for this MTNA event. What I heard tonight was absolutely marvellous.

Gorgeous, full of heart, as many beautiful adjectives as I can muster.

I am so moved by the way you are confirming to me that what I wrote was

right and powerful. It is such a pleasure to have my music treated with

such care and adventurous spirit. These two things: intense devotion to

the magic of music and the existence of adventurous spirit deep in

everyone's soul is really what I want to awaken in everyone with my music.

Nothing more and nothing less. At times I have been called a dreamer,

an idealist, even pretentious. But when one hears what you all are

playing there can be no doubt that my intentions are noble and attainable.

There is truth for all to hear. Perhaps this is why I was invited back to

teach at U of M, because I hear, I listen, I believe and I look to distill

the best from this. I've really found this in all of you too.
