Mary's parents were Reuben Via and Mary E. Spencer. euben was born about 1832 and died during the Civil War on 3 May 1863. Mary E. Spencer was born in 1837 and died 13 Jan 1888. Following is an excerpt from a letter written by R. B. Burnett in 1991 to the Patrick-Henry Allied Families organization. My father was Virgil T. Burnett, born and reared in Patrick County, Dodson, Virginia. Don't know his dad's name. My mother's name was Mary Frances Elizabeth Via. Don't know her daddy's name. He (her dad) was killed in the Civil War. I was born in Patrick County, Dodson, Virginia on March 3, 1898. I am 93 years of age and still going. Went to school in old rock house which used to be in the place where you have your annual meeting - 1906 and 1907. It was Fayerdale then. In November 1908 we moved to Schoolfield, Virginia and I went to work in the Dan River cotton Mill at age 10. Served in the Navy, World War I and over seas fifteen months. Married to Lois I. Stallings, Whitnel, N.C. July 6, 1927. We have reared four children, all of which have college degrees. We are all eligible to join your organization. I would like to have an active part in your organization. R.B. Burnett Hope this helps, Judy ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 17 Jan 2000 11:15:39 -0600 From: Bert Edens To: "'BTRVETC-L'" Subject: Getting off the list Message-ID: <01BF60DC.7D8C94E0.chigger@iso.net> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Greetings, all..
