Chronology and kinematics of erosion, deformation, and uplift of the central Andean fold-thrust belt and plateau, Bolivia.
The central Andes of South America
Dissertation: Deformation and erosion of the central Andean fold-thrust belt and plateau
GOALS:
To chronicle the exhumation and deformation history across the Bolivian Andes eastern flank.
APPROACH: (A) To quantify exhumation both across and along strike of the thrust belt (B) To use the exhumation histories to better constrain the history of plateau evolution and uplift
METHODS: (A) Apatite and zircon fission-track and zircon (U-Th)/He thermochronology
(B) Inverse thermal history modeling
(C) Integration with thrust belt balanced sections and their kinematic reconstructions
(D) Plio-Quaternary sediment budget and mass balance with mapping and GIS
(E) Synthesis of geologic constraints on Andean Plateau evolution
DATABASES:
Thermochronometer samples
Available low-temperature thermochronology samples for the Bolivian Andes.
