I'd say Las Vegas has potential.  I've been telling people that I chose to come here because, for my first visit to the States, I wanted to be a long way from home.  I'm not really convinced that I'm that far from home in some ways.  The city's corrupt; I expect I'll be comfortable on the streets.  The behavior of the local kindred is somewhat unique but not beyond belief.  I find it interesting to be somewhere where I'm considered old.

I suspect that my behavior will puzzle the locals quite as much as theirs does me.  No one in Europe has ever asked why I bother switching between Gene and Jean.  Either they don't have the status to question me, don't realize what's going on or understand it perfectly.  In some situations, it is still better to be a male with the body of a child than to be an adult with the body of a woman.  Besides, I began this life by presenting myself as a boy, a Caitiff.  I've dropped the latter gladly, but the other is who I am.

I've sent George to look at houses.  I'd prefer not to stay in a hotel for too long (I'm sure the clan will appreciate the economy).  Having a house also makes me seem more a possible permanent part of the political scene, and that will work in my favor.  Outside "experts" have so much trouble getting local cooperation without using a big club.  Besides, I might actually decide to stay.  I suspect that there's room for someone with my talents and inclinations.

I'll have to see what opportunities there are for local investments.  I'd like to have something here in addition to my resources in Europe.  If I truly had that sort of thing, I'd not need to rely on Ehlissa for what I couldn't carry through customs.

I hope that David will be able to give me some information about the new Tremere.  I prefer to be cautious around his clan but don't have the same biases that some of my kin do.  Perhaps a different first encounter would have given me a different view.  I have no illusions that David would put me above his political interests or the interests of his clan, but we have an equitable arrangement of favor for favor.

I wonder what he'll tell the Tremere if they start making inquiries about me?  I'm not sure that he would consider the Gene/Jean business all that important.  It's just a quirk of mine, but I suppose it is a way to annoy me.  Will he consider George and Arthur's identities important?  I'd hate to have to fight off any of Arthur's fans.  His reputation has grown over the years.  I suppose George's identity is easily deduced by anyone who sees us together.
